We photograph it and remind them again each year, because it is one of the simplest ways to reduce future infestations. Branches and leaves touching the walls, windows and eaves give ants, spiders and cockroaches a direct bridge past any barrier treatment applied around the base of the house.

Dense planting against a wall also keeps that strip shaded and damp, which suits pests looking for shelter. A clear gap between the garden and the house is what lets the treatment do its job.
