Pest Control and Carpet Cleaning Hope Island Before Moving In

A new home for an existing customer

This customer has used us before. They bought a new property at Hope Island, a large double storey home, and wanted two things done before they moved in: pest control inside and out, and the carpets hygienically cleaned.

The house had been vacant for a while. That matters for both jobs, and it is a big part of why doing them first made sense.

Outside, the backpack sprayer went around the property for the external treatment, and that included an ant treatment. Ants nest outside, so outside is where the work on them starts.

Inside, the hand sprayer did the internal treatment. Gel baits went into the kitchen, into the hinges and into the other harbourage spots, the dark, undisturbed gaps where cockroaches shelter close to food and water.

We noticed live large Australian cockroaches in a couple of the bedrooms. They were treated. It was a good thing the owner had the treatment done before moving in, rather than finding them once the furniture and boxes were through the door.

There was a lot of carpet. The whole upstairs is carpeted, plus the downstairs media room. All of it was cleaned, with an antibacterial treatment put through the lot.

An empty house is the easy way to do it. Every room is open, nothing has to be moved, and the edges that furniture normally covers get cleaned along with everything else.

What to expect in the first weeks after moving in

This is the advice we gave this customer, and it holds for most new homes. When you move into a new property, there is a likelihood of some activity. It does not mean the treatment has failed.

Two things drive it. Moving boxes come in from wherever they have been, and pests can come in with them. And a house that has been vacant a while has been quiet. New noise and movement can stir ants or cockroaches into moving their nests, and you see them while they do.

Do not panic. Keep us in the loop. We will come out between services, and depending on the infestation there may be a product cost. We would rather hear about it early than have you put up with it until the next visit.

Now on 6 monthly pest control

This customer is now on 6 monthly pest control. A standard general pest treatment covers cockroaches, ants and spiders. Other pests, such as rodents or wasps, are add ons booked on top rather than included automatically.

The warranty follows the pest. Australian cockroaches carry 6 months and ants carry 3 months. Webbing spiders carry a warranty, other spiders do not, because they keep crawling back in from outside. The treatment comes with a report.

Carpet is priced on the rooms, counted one per room, and the pest treatment on the property. The minimum call-out fee is $145 plus GST, the same across the Gold Coast to Tweed Heads area, and you get an estimate rather than a quote.
