A mattress is not carpet, and the drying time is the part most people get wrong. Mattress cleaning Gold Coast bookings nearly always end with the same question, which is when the bed can be made up again. The honest answer is later than you would like.

The mattress in this photo is at a Burleigh Heads property that takes in guests, a long standing commercial customer. Every mattress on the premises gets cleaned twice a year, the lounges along with them, and the property is on a quarterly pest control schedule as well. That is how they keep the place hygienic for their guests all year round, not just before the busy season.
When the beds are someone else's room for the night, the drying time below is the part that has to be right.
The number we give people is the remainder of the day at an absolute minimum, and we advise not sleeping on it until the following day. That is the cautious end on purpose. A mattress sits between carpet and a lounge: slower than the floor, quicker than the couch.
Carpet is usually walkable in a few hours. A lounge is the remainder of the day and we tell people to stay off it until the next day. Mattress cleaning lands closer to the lounge end of that, so that is the advice we give.
It is a short answer and it is the one that matters, because almost everything else about the job is decided before we arrive.
Depth is the whole reason. A carpet is pile over underlay on a hard floor, and the extraction pass is working through a few millimetres of fibre with something solid underneath it.
A mattress is layers. A quilted top, then padding, then foam or springs under that. Any moisture that gets past the top layer has further to travel back out, and it is travelling through material that was built to hold its shape rather than to drain.
Truck mounted extraction takes most of it back out in the same pass, which is why the mattress is damp and not saturated when we finish. What is left is sitting in the padding, and that part comes out with time and air rather than with equipment.
A morning booking is the single thing that makes the drying easy. The mattress gets the warm part of the day to work with, the room can be left open, and by bedtime you are as far along as you are going to get.
Strip the bed before we arrive, sheets, pillowcases and the protector, and leave it stripped. A ceiling fan running above the bed helps more than most people expect. If there is a spare bed in the house, plan on it for one night.
None of that is a limitation to apologise for. It is a bed, it is thick, and it was designed to be slept on rather than to dry fast.
Tell somebody four hours and they make the bed up that night. If the padding is still holding moisture under a fitted sheet and a mattress protector, it has nowhere to go, and a mattress that has been slept on damp smells worse than the one we started with.
That is the reason the advice runs to the following day rather than to an optimistic figure. We would rather give a number you can plan around than one you have to find out was wrong at eleven at night.
The clean itself is done when we leave. Dust mites and the allergens that go with them are removed during the job, not during the drying. Where there has been urine, the antibacterial enzyme treatment is already in and breaking down the organic matter at the source, and it keeps working over the following days.
So the waiting is not the treatment still happening. It is moisture leaving a thick piece of furniture, and it is the only part of a mattress clean that the customer has to plan around.
Size, how many mattresses there are and what is being treated set the number. A single with nothing wrong with it is a different job to a king that has had an accident on it.
The minimum call-out fee is $145 plus GST. A mattress booked on the same visit as the carpet costs less than one booked on its own, because the setup is already there. Tell us the sizes and whether anything has happened on it, and you will have an estimate before we start.
