Short answer: pest treatment day starts with an arrival window and a quick chat about what you have seen. Identification comes before anything is applied, because ants, cockroaches, spiders, rodents, fleas and wasps are each treated differently. Low toxicity, industry approved products are then applied with quality industry specific equipment to the relevant areas, and you get a straight explanation of what was used, where, and what to expect next. Most treatments need the treated area kept clear until dry, usually a few hours, and a few more pests than usual for several days afterward is normal, not a sign the treatment has failed.

Before we arrive

A pest treatment runs smoother when a few things are sorted beforehand. None of it is complicated, it just saves time on the day and means the treatment gets applied properly the first time.

What to have ready

  • Clear access for our van near your entry
  • Let us know about children, pets, aquariums, or anyone with sensitivities when you book
  • Kitchen benches cleared if a cockroach treatment is booked
  • Pets restrained in a safe, untreated area where possible

What we do first

  • Ask what you have seen, where, and how long it has been going on
  • Identify the actual pest before treating anything
  • Explain the plan and any re-entry timing before we start
  • Confirm the estimate against what we find on arrival

Why identification comes before treatment

Every treatment starts with working out exactly what you have, not guessing from a description over the phone. An Australian cockroach wandering in from the garden and a German cockroach infestation breeding in a kitchen look similar to most people, but need completely different treatments. The same goes for ants, where a surface spray kills the workers you can see but leaves the colony untouched, while a proper baiting program gets carried back to the nest. Treating the wrong problem correctly is still the wrong result, so we confirm what we are dealing with before anything is applied.

During the treatment

We use low toxicity, industry approved products applied with quality industry specific equipment, chosen because they are effective on the target pest while being safe around families and pets. Products are applied to the areas that actually need it, not sprayed indiscriminately through the whole property. You will be told what is being used, where it is going, and how long that specific area needs to stay clear before anyone walks through it.

After we leave: what is normal and what is not

The treatment keeps working after we drive away, and a few things happen in the days that follow that catch people off guard if nobody explains them first.

How long the protection actually lasts depends on the pest. Some carry a longer warranty than others, and a few genuinely cannot be warrantied at all because of how they move in and out of a property. Our full Gold Coast pest control guide sets out exactly how long cover runs for each pest, so you know what to expect before you book.

Frequently asked questions

What happens on the day of a pest treatment?
It starts with an arrival window and a quick chat about what you have seen. Identification comes before anything is applied, because ants, cockroaches, spiders, rodents, fleas and wasps are each treated differently. Once the pest is confirmed, low toxicity, industry approved products are applied with quality industry specific equipment to the relevant areas, and you get a straight explanation of what was used, where, and what to expect next.
Do I need to leave the house during treatment?
For most general treatments you can generally stay on the property, but occupants and pets are asked to stay out of the treated areas until they dry, usually a few hours. We confirm exact timing for your specific treatment before we start, since it varies by product and pest.
Is pest control safe for pets and kids on the day?
Yes. We use low toxicity, industry approved products chosen specifically for homes with children and pets, and we ask upfront about kids, pets, aquariums or anyone with sensitivities so we can plan the treatment around them. Pets are best restrained in an untreated area while we work.
Why does pest activity sometimes get worse right after treatment?
This is normal and expected, not a failed treatment. The products flush pests out of wall cavities and hiding spots before the colony dies off, so seeing a few more pests than usual for several days afterward is the treatment working, not a sign it has not worked.
How soon can I clean or mop after a pest treatment?
We advise against mopping or wiping down treated skirtings and surfaces for the period we specify on the day, because it removes the product before it has finished working. Normal cleaning everywhere else in the home is fine straight away.
