Rug Cleaning Mudgeeraba After Pasta Sauce Reached the Jute

This is a regular pest control customer in Mudgeeraba, on a six monthly schedule as a minimum. On this visit a rug clean was added, and the reason was sitting on the edge of it.

A rubbish bag had been placed down on the rug's edge. Pasta sauce had seeped out of the bag, into the fibre, and kept going down into the jute backing underneath. It is a quality fibre rug, so it was worth doing properly rather than writing off.

Why a sauce stain is harder than it looks

A tomato based sauce brings two problems at once. There is the colour, which wants to sit in the fibre, and there is oil, which holds that colour and attracts dirt afterwards. Blotting the top does very little once it has soaked in.

The bigger issue on this rug was depth. The sauce did not stay in the pile. It went through to the jute backing, and jute is a natural plant fibre that soaks liquid up and holds onto it.

That changes what can be done. A rug with a jute backing cannot simply be flooded and extracted hard, because overwetting jute causes problems of its own, and the fibre on top is delicate too. The method has to be careful, not aggressive.

What rug cleaning Mudgeeraba involved on this one

The rug was cleaned on site, as every rug we do is. The affected area was extracted, then treated with a specific product we use to break that kind of soiling down.

There were two goals. The first was the fibre, getting it back to how it should feel and behave. The second was the look, bringing the colour back so the patch did not read as a stain from across the room.

It has worked out well on both counts.

Why this rug needs treating again

The honest position is that this is not a one visit fix. Because the sauce reached the jute backing, some of it sits where a clean cannot fully get to without putting a delicate rug at risk.

So the plan is a specific maintenance treatment roughly every six months, to keep it at bay. With a delicate fibre and a natural backing, little and often is safer than one hard go.

Because the property is already on a six monthly pest control schedule, the rug can go into the same visit when it is due.
