Short answer: the fresh, clean feel underfoot after a professional clean comes from the rinse. We always finish with a rinse that brings the fibre back to its natural form and pH, so nothing is left in the carpet to feel stiff or sticky. This first time customer had the carpet and the rugs cleaned, natural fibre and synthetic, each handled to suit the fibre, with an antibacterial enzyme treatment through it all because there is a pet in the house.

Carpet and rug cleaning Currumbin Waters: a first visit

carpet cleaning Currumbin Waters before and after, soiled bedroom carpet on the left and the same carpet with wand marks on the right CPH Services Gold Coast
Before and after, carpet cleaning Currumbin Waters. Left, the bedroom carpet quite dirty and soiled. Right, the same carpet after the clean and the rinse, with the wand marks still in it.

This was a first time customer in Currumbin Waters, with the carpet and the rugs booked in the one visit.

The carpet was quite dirty and soiled when we arrived. The photo shows one bedroom before and after: the marks and the dull traffic areas on the left, and the same carpet on the right with the wand marks still in it.

After they got home, the customer got in touch to tell us how nice the carpet felt underfoot. Fresh and clean, and it was the feel they noticed, not just the look.

Why carpet feels different after the rinse

That feel is not an accident. It is the rinse, and we finish every clean with it.

Cleaning products do their job by loosening soil from the fibre. Then they have to come back out. Product left behind dries into a residue that feels stiff or slightly tacky, and it grabs fresh dirt, which is one reason some carpets look tired again soon after a clean.

Cleaning products also move the fibre away from its natural pH while they work. The rinse flushes that out and brings the fibre back to its natural form and pH. The pile sits the way it was made to, it feels soft, and there is nothing left in it to attract soil.

You cannot see that difference in a photo. You notice it when you walk across the room barefoot, which is exactly what this customer did.

Natural fibre and synthetic rugs are not the same job

The rugs in this home were a mix of natural fibre and synthetic, and they do not get the same treatment.

Natural fibres such as wool are more sensitive to moisture and to the wrong product. Too much water or a harsh product can affect the colour, the feel and the shape of a rug. So they get a product suited to the fibre and a controlled amount of moisture.

Synthetic rugs are more forgiving and handle a standard clean well. The fibre is still checked in front of the rug before anything goes on, because a rug that looks synthetic is not always synthetic.

Either way, the rugs are cleaned on site, in your home, and they finish with the same rinse as the carpet. There is more on the difference in wool vs synthetic rug cleaning, and on our rug cleaning Gold Coast page.

A pet in the house, and no odour

There is a pet living inside, but there were no odour issues on this job. That is the best time to treat it properly.

An antibacterial enzyme treatment went through the carpet and the rugs. The enzymes break down organic material at the source, rather than masking a smell for a few days and letting it come back.

Heavier, more established soiling steps up to an antimicrobial enzyme treatment. This home did not need it. The antibacterial was the right call, and the place smelt fantastic when we left.

Worth knowing for between cleans: if a pet has an accident, do not reach for hot water or steam. Heat can set an acidic stain. Blot it, and leave the heavy work to the treatment.

Carpet cleaning Currumbin Waters: what it costs

Carpet is priced on the rooms, counted one per room. Rugs are priced on their size and fibre. Tell us about any pets when you book, so the right treatment is planned for the day.

The minimum call-out fee is $145 plus GST, the same across the Gold Coast to Tweed Heads area. You get an estimate rather than a quote, because the fibre and the condition of the carpet and rugs are things we confirm in front of them. More detail is on the carpet cleaning Gold Coast page and our carpet cleaning Currumbin Waters page.

Frequently asked questions

Why does carpet feel different after a professional clean?
Because of the rinse. Cleaning products have to come back out of the fibre. We finish every clean with a rinse that brings the fibre back to its natural form and pH, so there is no residue left to feel stiff or sticky, or to attract fresh dirt.
Are natural fibre and synthetic rugs cleaned differently?
Yes. Natural fibres such as wool are more sensitive to moisture and to the wrong product, so they get a product suited to the fibre and a controlled amount of moisture. Synthetic rugs are more forgiving. The fibre is checked in front of every rug before anything is applied.
Do you take rugs away to clean them?
No. Rugs are cleaned on site, in your home, and they finish with the same rinse as the carpet.
What treatment is used in a home with a pet?
An antibacterial enzyme treatment as standard, which breaks down organic material at the source rather than masking it. Heavier, more established soiling steps up to an antimicrobial enzyme treatment. This home had a pet but no odour issues, so the antibacterial was the right call.
Can the carpet and the rugs be done in the same visit?
Yes. This customer had both done together, which means one booking and one call-out instead of two.
How often should carpets be professionally cleaned?
Every 6 to 12 months, depending on foot traffic, pets and how heavily the rooms are used. Most homes suit 12 months. Homes with pets, young children or allergies often do better on 6 to 9 months.
