Where does the treatment actually go if my place has no weep holes? That came up on a recent job, on a house that did not have a single one. Pest control Gold Coast wide does not depend on them, and it is worth explaining what changes when they are missing.

There was no infestation on this job. No ants marching across a bench, no cockroach problem, nothing anyone had been putting up with for weeks. The customer booked a general treatment because it was due, which is the way it should work and the way it usually does not.
The kit in the photo is the backpack sprayer, sitting on the driveway beside the van before the external work started. The property had no weep holes anywhere in the brickwork, which changed how the treatment was delivered but not what it covered.
Weep holes are the small gaps left in the mortar joints of a brick wall. They are there for the building, not for us. They let moisture drain out of the wall cavity and let the cavity breathe, which is why you see them along the bottom course of brickwork on most Gold Coast homes.
They are useful in a pest treatment because they give access to the wall cavity, which is a route pests use to move through a building without ever crossing an open surface. Where they exist, they are a sensible place to treat.
What they are not is the treatment. A house with weep holes and nothing else done is barely treated at all. The bulk of a general pest treatment has always been the external perimeter and the areas around the building where pests actually live and breed.
On this property the external perimeter did the heavy lifting. A treated band around the base of the building, the areas where the slab meets the ground, and the garden beds sitting against the walls, which is where a lot of the pressure comes from in the first place.
Add the usual entry points on top of that. Around pipe penetrations, meter boxes, the gaps under and around doors, eaves and the corners where webbing builds up. Those are the places things get in, regardless of what the brickwork looks like.
The garden beds matter more than most people expect. A bed of mulch pushed hard up against a wall is warm, damp and undisturbed, which is close to ideal for ants, cockroaches and spiders. Treating the wall and ignoring the bed a foot away from it does not get you very far.
Most calls come in after something has been noticed. A trail of ants, a cockroach at night, a web that keeps rebuilding in the same corner. By that stage there is a population established somewhere and the treatment is working backwards.
A proactive treatment is a shorter job with a better result, because there is nothing to knock down first. It is also the version of this work that keeps a house quiet rather than fixing it after the fact.
Worth knowing before you book: a standard general treatment is cockroaches, ants and spiders. That is the norm and the given. Rodents, fleas, silverfish and wasps are add ons, booked and priced on top, not something that quietly comes with the visit.
On cover, Australian cockroaches carry a 6 month warranty and ants carry 3 months. Webbing spiders carry a warranty, other spiders do not, because they keep walking back in from outside. For the add ons, a warranty may apply depending on the circumstances at your particular property and on the infestation itself, assessed on an as needs basis. We would rather judge that property by property than promise something flat.
One thing we do not do is termites. Different licence, different trade. If termites are the concern, you want a specialist and we will point you at one.
The number follows the size of the property, how much external perimeter there is to treat, and what is being treated for. A small unit is a different job to a large house on a big block with garden beds down both sides.
The minimum call-out fee is $145 plus GST, right across the Gold Coast to Tweed Heads area. Tell us the property size, whether it is single or double storey, and whether you are seeing anything or just booking because it is due. You will get an estimate. Estimate rather than quote, because access and the state of the perimeter are things we confirm on the day.
All treatments are carried out by a licensed technician, which for pest work is a legal requirement rather than a selling point. If you are booking a carpet clean around the same time, the two go together in one visit and one call-out.
Tell us about the job in 60 seconds. Personal reply, usually the same day. No pressure, no lock-in, no call centre.
