The van stays on the driveway and the hose does the travelling. That is the part people ask about most when the bedrooms are all upstairs, and it is worth knowing before you book, because access decides more about a two storey job than the carpet does.

This is what a two storey job looks like from the street. The van is on the driveway with the machine running inside it, and nothing heavy comes through the front door.
That is the point of truck mounted equipment. The motor, the heat and the vacuum all live in the vehicle, so what comes into the house is a hose and a wand. There is no unit sitting in your hallway and no power lead run off your own supply.
A standard two storey Gold Coast house is comfortably inside the reach of that hose, upstairs bedrooms included. There is more on how the equipment works on the truck mounted extraction post.
Two storey house, single level home or townhouse, the method does not change. The products are low in toxicity and family and pet safe, and the same care goes into every job, whether it is carpet cleaning, pest control, or both on the same visit.
Two storey houses are not harder to clean. Two storey houses with nowhere to park are.
What we ask for is off street parking with clear access to the front door. A long driveway is no problem. A narrow street with the van stuck two properties away is a problem, and it is better known before the booking than on the morning.
The same logic is why apartments need lift access and off street parking with clear van access. It is never about the carpet, it is about whether the hose can get to it.
People book a two storey house expecting the upstairs to be the hard part. It is the stairs.
A flight of stairs carries every trip anyone in the house makes, so it holds more soil than any single room. It also has more surface than it looks: each tread has a top and a front, and the edges take the worst of it.
Stairs are worked by hand, one at a time, which is slower than running a wand across an open bedroom floor. If a job runs long, that is almost always where the time went.
That is also why stairs are priced as their own line rather than being folded into a room. They are genuinely a separate piece of work.
Clear the floor of anything small: shoes, toys, bins, the things at the bottom of a wardrobe. We move what needs moving, but an empty floor gets a better clean than a floor we are working around.
Pick where the van goes and keep it free that morning. If the driveway is shared or the street gets busy, that one decision saves the most time.
Think about the hose route through the front door. Doors get held open rather than closed, and it is easier if the entry is clear.
Upstairs does not take longer to dry because it is upstairs. Airflow is what dries carpet, not height.
The mistake is shutting the bedroom doors so the house looks tidy. That traps the moisture in the rooms that were just cleaned. Open the windows on both levels and let air move through, and if you have ceiling fans, run them.
Gold Coast humidity is the other factor, and it is the reason we would rather do a house in the morning than late in the day.
It is priced on the number of carpeted rooms plus the stairs. Rooms are counted one per room, so a lounge, a family room and a media room are three rooms and three prices, because that is what they are to clean.
The number of levels does not add anything on its own. A four bedroom house with the bedrooms upstairs prices the same as a four bedroom house with the bedrooms down the back, plus the stairs between them.
The minimum call-out fee is $145 plus GST, the same across the Gold Coast to Tweed Heads area. You get an estimate rather than a quote, because rooms, stairs and condition are things we confirm on the day. Full detail is on the carpet cleaning page.
