An owner-occupier job that shows why stairs need extra attention
A recent Gold Coast job was an owner-occupier home with carpeted stairs and an indoor pet that used them constantly. The dog going up and down every day had left a number of marks concentrated along the stairs, more than on the flat, open carpet elsewhere in the house. Stairs work differently to open floor space, a pet's body and belly regularly brushes against the risers and edges going up and down, so residue builds up in a way it does not on a flat run of carpet. We gave the stairs the extra attention that pattern needed, then ran an antimicrobial enzyme treatment through the majority of the carpeted area, in this case effectively all of it, since the pet was fully indoor and had the run of the whole home, not just the stairs.
Why wool carpet needs a different approach
This particular home had natural fibre carpet, wool, throughout. Wool behaves differently under cleaning products than synthetic carpet, and using the wrong ones risks the fibre rather than just doing a poor job of cleaning it. We used products suited specifically to wool, then finished with an appropriate rinse pass, a final stage during truck mounted extraction that helps bring the pile back to its natural pH balance rather than leaving any product residue behind. That rinse also supports faster drying, which matters more on natural fibre than synthetic. The result was carpet that was properly clean without putting the fibre itself at risk.

Commercial grade truck mounted machines pull substantially more moisture back out of the carpet during the clean than a portable unit or rental machine can manage.
