Gold Coast leather lounge urine cleaning Southport, after an accident on two seats. A new customer, a black leather lounge, and the question everybody asks once the seats look clean again: will the smell come back?

This was a new customer in a Southport duplex. There had been a urine accident on two seats of a leather lounge, and those are the two seats that were cleaned.
The job was three steps. Clean the leather. Apply an antimicrobial treatment throughout the lounge to kill the bacteria causing the smell. Then finish with a leather protector.
The lounge responded well on the day. The plan from here is a simple check in a week or so, covered further down.
The smell from urine comes from bacteria, and bacteria do not stop at the edge of the mark you can see.
Liquid on a lounge can run along the seams and stitching, into the gaps between the cushions, and down into the padding under the leather. What is visible on the surface is rarely the whole of it.
That is why the antimicrobial treatment went through the whole lounge rather than just the two seats. It deals with what you can see and smell, and with what you cannot.
Leather is not water extracted. It is cleaned by hand with hide appropriate products, with no steam involved, which is a different process to a fabric couch.
It is also why the first few minutes after an accident matter. Generic household products, baby wipes and alcohol based cleaners strip the natural oils from the hide, and the drying and cracking that follows is not reversible. Blot up what you can with a clean towel, do not rub it in, and leave the rest to us.
Once the leather was cleaned and the antimicrobial treatment had gone through, we finished with a leather protector over the whole lounge, not just the two seats.
Smell does not always show itself on the day. A week or so of normal use tells you more than the hour after we leave.
So the arrangement is simple. If any smell remains after 7 to 10 days, the customer lets us know, and a topical treatment follows.
On this lounge we do not expect to need it. It responded well. But it is better to say what happens next before the job is finished than to leave someone wondering.
Because leather is not water extracted, it usually needs far less drying time than a fabric lounge. We confirm that on the day rather than promising a number.
Leather is priced on enquiry, because hide grade varies and the products change with it. The minimum call-out fee is $145 plus GST, and you get an estimate rather than a quote. The couch and lounge cleaning page covers both leather and fabric, and there is more on carpet cleaning in Southport on our suburb page.
