A regular client, after their function

This is a regular commercial client in Burleigh Heads. They had held a function, and we were booked in afterwards to clean the carpet and the rugs.

The photo is the van on site with the truck mount set up and the hoses run in. The client is not named here, the same as every commercial job we write about.

Because they are a regular client, this was a clean timed around an event, not a floor that had been let go.

What a function does to a floor

A normal working day spreads foot traffic across a whole room. A function does the opposite. People gather in the same few places, around the food, the drinks and the doorways, and those spots take a lot of traffic in a few hours.

Food and drink come onto the floor as well. Some of it is obvious, a dropped plate or a spilled glass. A lot of it is not, crumbs trodden in and small drips nobody noticed at the time.

None of that is a crisis on the night. It becomes one if it is left, because a spill that would have lifted easily can set into the fibre.

Carpet and rugs in the same visit

The rugs went into the same visit as the carpet. Rugs are cleaned on site, and each one is checked for fibre before anything goes on it, because a rug is not carpet and does not get treated as if it were.

Doing both together means one call-out instead of two, and the floor is finished as a whole rather than half done.

With the van close enough to set up, the truck mounted machine does the carpet, which is where most of what the clean loosens gets pulled back out.

What to do on the night

If something goes down during the event, blot it straight away and leave it at that. Do not scrub, because scrubbing spreads a spill and pushes it deeper.

Do not reach for hot water or a product from under the sink. On an unknown spill, heat or the wrong chemical can set a mark that would otherwise have come out.

Then book the clean for as soon after the function as the room allows. The sooner it is done, the more comes out.

It depends on the floor area, how many rugs there are and what they are made of, and how the floor has come through the function. A small room after a quiet evening is a different job to a large space after a big event.

The minimum call-out fee is $145 plus GST, the same across the Gold Coast to Tweed Heads area, Burleigh Heads included. You get an estimate rather than a quote, because what an event has left behind is something we confirm on site.
